About this cause

About our cause

The Quest School for children with autism was founded in September 2003 in response to the growing need for Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) intervention for children with autism in a school environment. We aim to offer maximum opportunities for our pupils to develop the skills they need to lead rewarding and fulfilling lives both now and in the future.

Pupils who attend Quest School will all have been diagnosed as having an autistic spectrum disorder. It is important to remember that the degree, or severity, of autism will vary for each pupil. It can also affect pupils across the whole range of intellectual ability. The majority of pupils with autism will have additional learning difficulties and these learning difficulties may be severe.

Quest School has a distinctive teaching methodology – Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) – based on fundamental principles of behavioural science.

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, with a focus on the development of effective communication systems and the teaching of functional life skills for each pupil.

The Quest School is committed to providing a fully inclusive environment, which recognises and meets diversity of need, and values the uniqueness of every school member. We endeavour to ensure that all individuals are treated with respect and are provided with equal opportunities throughout the school.

The school plans to grow slowly, maintaining the highest possible standard of teaching, and training for its staff. We aim to offer an establishment of expertise, where our children may flourish and prosper as unique and confident individuals.

The overall aim of the Quest School is to maximise the opportunity for all of our pupils to access and integrate into mainstream community life and to feel fulfilled and content.

Our vision is that the Quest School will become a recognised centre of excellence for the education of children with autism.
