About our cause

Every year, the wildlife in Britain have unfortunate encounters with man. Over 5 million animals and birds are injured because of us. At Rangers Lodge we try to redress the balance by taking in the injured and orphaned, and nurse them back to health. Rangers Lodge is registered with the European Wildlife Rehabilitation Association and we are supported by 2 wonderful vets, Alan Turnbull BVSc,MRCVS and Donna Harvard BVSc,MRCVS and their nurses, Amanda, Di and Sarah. We aim is to release every animal or bird back into the wild or to find them safe release sites. Rangers Lodge is situated near Horsham, in West Sussex and is supported by volunteers. During the winter we are mostly stocked with young hedgehogs. TSTH, (too small to hibernate). These are kept at room temperature to prevent them from going into hibernation as they do not have enough body weight to sustain them through the winter outdoors. During the spring we have a lot of young birds, which we nurture until they are fully fledged. And any time of the year we have casualties of all kinds due to encounters with man.
