We shall be going to the Ladakh region of India for 29 days. The trip will be broken into four different sections, Acclimatisation phase, the Project phase, Challenge phase (Trekking) and rest and relaxation. As a group, it shall be our decision as to what we would like to do in each of these phases, and although much of this is still in the planning stages, we know we are undertaking a 9 day trek, starting from Lake Tso Moriri, staying at over 4,000 metres but reaching a peak of 5,449 metres. The Project phase shall most likely be a community project teaching in one of the schools in the area that are very undeveloped by our standards. There is not only teaching work that we will undertake but various manual jobs such as fixing buildings and helping with maintenance work. We will also be likely to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra, go water rafting and visit the red fort in Delhi. This expedition has been rated as High in the difficulty level on the world challenge website. If you wish to check any other details, here is the link to the foundation of what we shall be doing. http://www.world-challenge.co.uk/pages/exped_lh_dest_asia_india_ladakh.asp The sum needed to be raised is £3,500 as well as the money to buy vital equipment and food while we are there, so no mean feat!
