Roman Alcester came into being in 2005 after many years of hard work by a small band of local people who believed that the many treasures unearthed in Alcester over the last hundred years should be on display in the town where they were found. The old Magistrates Court was converted into the modern interactive museum we have today and it has been described as “one of the hidden jewels of the Midlands.”Housed in Globe House, Priory Road, Alcester, the Museum is still run by a very enthusiastic band of volunteers who take pride in their town’s heritage and work hard to make it relevant to all groups in the community. The Museum is run under an agreement with Warwickshire County Council who are responsible for the exhibits and curatorship, whilst Alcester Roman Heritage Trust supply the volunteers who staff and care for the Museum. The Museum receives no regular funding. Your donations help to fund our work and our education programme.
