Samaritans of Walsall & District

We are a local branch of Samaritans.People talk to us any time they like, in their own way, and off the record – about whatever’s getting to them. They don’t have to be suicidal. Samaritans believe that given the time and space to talk things through, people can find a way through their problems. Samaritans help people to explore their options so they can make decisions that are right for them. We want people to feel safe while talking to us, so they can tell us how they're really feeling. That’s why we take confidentiality very seriously. We believe that without our promise of keeping everything confidential, people who have the greatest need might never have the courage to trust or speak to us. Our name is an historical accident: When the Daily Mirror first found out about our service, they described us as “Good Samaritans”, and the name stuck. You do not have to be religious in any way to volunteer or to get in touch – we talk to people of all faiths and of no faith. Volunteers do not impose their own religious, political, philosophical beliefs on anyone who contacts us. As a local branch, we have to raise all the funding necessary to deliver Samaritans service in our area.
