Sam is a six year old boy from West Yorkshire who was born with cerebral palsy, which affects mainly the muscles in his legs, making them so tight and stiff that he cannot stand or walk without adult support. Sam has been given the chance of having a life changing operation at Leeds General Infirmary. The operation is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This releases the spasticity in the legs, enabling the muscles to move more freely, which will then allow the muscles to be strengthened.
