About this cause

About our cause

Save Hemsby Coastline was set up following the coastal surge on 5th December 2013, when many homes were lost to the sea. Images of destruction in our village were transmitted around the world. We have no central funding - the only thing protecting us is the 1 remaining sand dune. We are busy fund-raising so that we can trial an innovative solution to create an artificial dune from materials that would otherwise go to landfill, to protect the remaining houses at immediate risk.
