About our cause

We're called Shanty Theatre Company. Shanty started on a beach. With our roots deeply embedded in the countryside, we tell the stories that make-up the fabric of a place, spring from its history and are wound up in its myths. We're been making plays in and about the South-West (with a particular penchant for Lyme Regis) for nearly 5 years. We quite like ukuleles. And music in general (it's good for the soul). We've performed in theatres, pubs, schools and residential homes, we’ve sung and danced (terribly in that way your Dad does) on beaches and in car parks, slept in Scout Huts and worn many, many pairs of tights.
