St John the Baptist Church, Ruardean is over 900 years old and lies at the heart of this old mining village. Its beautiful spire, which is 168 feet high, can be seen for miles. It has a stone tympanum carved between 1120 and 1140, which displays St George slaying the dragon - the only one in Gloucestershire. There is a wonderful community spirit and the Church has been at the heart of family celebrations for centuries. We need to keep this beautiful building available for future generations.
