About this cause

About our cause

Our good friend Stuart has Metastasis Myxoid Liposarcoma, it is in a band of cancers called sarcomas. It is a rare cancer of connective tissues, generally it affects adults between the ages of 40-60, Stuart is only 30. Stuart can survive, we have a plan and that’s where we need your support. There is currently no treatment available for Stuart in the UK and so our only hope is sending Stuart to the USA (Washington State) to take part in a clinical trial under the guidance of Dr. Seth Pollack, so he can receive a vaccine that has been specifically designed to fight the damaged cells. The treatment will cost £150,000 and this is not covered by any kind of insurance. There is no other kind of treatment available in the world for someone in Stuart's condition and without it he doesn't have very long left. Stu is an awesome guy and has helped to change many people's lives during his career as a much loved Personal Trainer. We would really like to help him out in his time of need. We will be participating in a number of sponsored challenges, please show your support! Challenge 1 - Suffering for Stu On 7th March 2015, Rich, his mom, Dave and Gaff will be running 'The Suffering' - this is a 10K obstacle course with 25 obstacles including a repear squad to dish out pain to participants. Challenge 2 - Strolling for Stu Also on 7th March, Kayleigh, Jon, Mariana and another group of friends will be walking the entire 30 mile route along the Worcester and Birmingham canal. Starting in Worcester and finishing on Broad Street in Birmingham City Centre. Challenge 3 - Running for Stu On 28th March 2015, Kayleigh will be running the Strong Viking obstacle run Mud edition - Beast in Nijmegen, Netherlands in aid of the cause. Strong Viking Beast is an intense 19 KM obstacle run like no other on the planet. Challenge 4 - Glowing for Stu On 2nd May, Rich, Sami, Kayleigh, her 7 year old niece Cordelia and a group of others will be running The Blacklight Run at Cheltenham Racecourse in aid of our cause. Blacklight Run™ is a unique night 5K fun run focused less on speed and more on UV Neon Glowing fun with friends and family.
