About Saint Walburge's Catholic Church
Built by the famous architect J.A. Hansom from 1850 to 1854, Grade-I listed St. Walburge's is one of the most unique monuments of faith in this country, with its great spire and hammberbeam roof. The Bishop of Lancaster has established St. Walburge's as a Shrine, a church with a special mission, as opposed to a defined territory, to serve as a centre of Eucharistic Adoration for the diocese as well as for the celebration of the traditional Roman liturgy. All are welcome.
