Tagsa Uibhist was set up on Uist in 1999 to meet the needs of the elderly and infirm populations in Uist, for whom there were few services at the time. Tagsa started a respite home support service for carers, people living with dementia in their own homes, and for vulnerable people living alone. Since 1999, Tagsa Uibhist has expanded and developed its projects and services, including a popular community transport service (used extensively by the elderly as well as by vulnerable adults and children. The organisation has also set up a Mental Health & Wellbeing Outreach Project offering support and information to help individuals manage their mental health, along with a Horticultural & Social Project.
