Friends of TREAD charity based in UK is the fundraising and publicity arm of TREAD India Trust. TREAD aims to relieve poverty and advance education in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa states. Its work is targeted at children, young people and their families.
Projects include 4 day care centres providing before and after school care for primary school children, a tailoring workshop for teenage girls and an orphaned assistance programme.
Trustees of Friends of TREAD enjoy a close working relationship with their Indian counterparts, making at least one annual trip to India to visit the projects and hold planning meetings with the trustees and staff.
