At United for All, a new charity based in Dundee, we aim to improve local employment rates and reduce skills gaps, with particular emphasis on individuals who are unemployed, receiving Jobseekers Allowance, and requiring “up-skilling†to find employment. We believe Clients with additional or multiple barriers to employment may benefit from our unique support. UfA hope to assist disadvantaged people to access independent employment through a process of accredited training and personal support. The people we intend to work with generally experience a number of barriers to accessing and sustaining employment. However, we believe most can overcome these issues through their hard work and determination and go on to achieve their goals. The board of Dundee United FC has recently agreed to be a partner in forthcoming projects and UfA plan to deliver employability courses at Tannadice with a variety of agencies. As you are probably well aware, football has a huge capacity for developing and contributing to interpersonal skills. These courses will use football as the hook to capture participant’s enthusiasm and interest. The courses will look to develop self-esteem, motivation, confidence and team building skills that will enhance the job opportunities of participants.
