About West Glamorgan Blind Bowls Club

WGBBClub is one of six visually impaired clubs in South Wales, the other clubs being Barry, Blackwood, Cardiff, Gwent and Pembrokeshire, and all these clubs are affiliated to the Welsh Association of Visually Impaired Bowlers, which is in turn affiliated to UK Visually Impaired Bowlers. The West Glamorgan club meets on Tuesday afternoons, outdoors at Landore bowls green in the summer and indoors at the Swansea bowls centre in the winter. The green and the bowls centre are situated in Beaufort Road, Landore. The club has presently got twenty-two members, both male and female, and eleven of them are active visually impaired bowlers with an age range from mid-thirties to eighty-five. The categories for visually impaired bowlers go from B1 totally blind to B4 and we have bowlers in all categories. We do compete against other clubs in invitation tournaments and friendly matches and there are opportunities to compete in Welsh, UK and even World Championships but we are also more than happy to welcome bowlers who simply want to enjoy a sociable and relaxing game of bowls. If you are visually impaired but still reasonably active and looking for a sporting outlet, bowls might be your game â give it a try! It gets you out of the house, gives you a bit of gentle exercise and you'll make some new friends. You'll be warmly welcomed at the club and we are quite happy to give you some coaching, free of charge, if you have not played before. If you are already a bowler but starting to have eyesight problems, you do not have to give up the game and you do not have to stop playing with sighted groups. The only adaptation for VI bowls is a white cord down the middle of the rink and the majority of our members play for and against sighted teams.

It is so easy to set up an account & to start saving for a good cause - I've recommended easyfundraising to a lot of my friends, and they're as impressed as I am with the ease of how it works."

"I run a not for profit Community Interest Company and shared our cause. Very easy to use, templates ready to share on social media, with direct links to our page and pop up reminders installed for when I was shopping with numerous websites, where I could gain the free donation. Excellent service and a fabulous idea."
