Peter Harvey spawned the concept of a small, staff friendly company while mountaineering in the Alps in 1994. His motivation came from several directions, not least his experience working at Strathcona Park Lodge in Canada and Outward Bound in Wales. Motivated staff would mean that customers were happy, staff felt valued and rewarded and would be keen to continue to work with the company. This ethos continues to this day, with the company's staff supported in whatever they want to do. We turn our collective noses up to the 9 to 5 working mentality. The beauty of being a small company and focused on you, is that you'll speak to the same people in the company each time you call and get a personal service as a result. We have deliberately not focused on profit as the sole measure of success, and often make decisions that might be considered as 'non-commercial' in order to retain our ethos. We have successfully grown the business and diversified into other sectors by retaining this absolute commitment to our employees and delivering exceptional quality to our clients. We now have a number of small companies, each retaining the core values & principles upon which the business was founded, which form the Expertise Consultancy Group. After more than 15 years based at Wellington College, most of the companies in the Expertise Consultancy Group have relocated to our purpose built new premises in Bramley, just north of Basingstoke. Although the Wellington site was a great place to be, it was becoming more difficult to accommodate the different requirements of each of our businesses. The new premises have everything under one roof and this makes it far more efficient and easier for us all to work together. Wind Sand & Stars remain at their offices in Bath With the new building, we have worked hard to maintain our commitment to operating in harmony with the environment and community in whichwe are based. We recycled as much of the furniture as we could from the Wellington site and any additional needs were purchased from local used office furniture suppliers. We also ensured that any work done on the new building was by local companies, using local materials.
