About Wistaston Cricket Club

Wistaston Cricket Club was founded by a local group of Friends back in 1981, to play social Cricket at weekends as an alternative to the large clubs in the area of Crewe and Nantwich and surrounding areas. After 7 years of playing social cricket, a league 1st XI team was founded in 1988, followed by a 2nd XI in 1992. All home matches were played at the ground located behind the Peacock Hotel up until 1998, then the club made the move to the Brittles on Church Lane in the parish of Wistaston. The Club lease the ground from Wistaston Sports and Leisure Association, which is a local organisation which was founded to help local adults and local children enjoy sport in the local community from any ethnic background. Wistaston Cricket Club lease the ground from the WSLA each year at a cost of £2500, which allows us to have full use of the ground, pavilion, changing rooms and kitchen area. During the 1990’s Junior cricket was introduced at the Brittles, in the early days it was made up of 1 under 15’s team, but in 2004 under 9’s, under 11’s, under 13’s, under 15’s and several girls teams were introduced into league matches in South Cheshire. Under 18’s Team has been introduced for the 2011 season, for the aspiring juniors not eligible to play in the under 15’s because of age. Junior playing members are also regularly selected to play in the 1st XI, 2nd XI, Sunday 3rds and Wombats. This has been able to prosper due to the 6 active coaches, which give their time as volunteers on Match days and at coaching sessions through winter and summer nets. At present we have a junior section of 107 playing members, which are made up of local children in Wistaston and the local area. The club prides itself on promoting children in the local community, either boys or girls and children who have a disability and 56 adult playing members. Since 2004 the Club has grown from strength to strength with all the playing teams 1st XI, 2nd XI, Sunday XI and Wombats actively participating in South Cheshire Alliance league and for the Under 9, under11, under13, under15, under18 and girls, travelling to clubs in South Cheshire.

"I run a not for profit Community Interest Company and shared our cause. Very easy to use, templates ready to share on social media, with direct links to our page and pop up reminders installed for when I was shopping with numerous websites, where I could gain the free donation. Excellent service and a fabulous idea."
