World University Games 2009 Volleyball Fund

The Great Britain Men's University Volleyball squad are competing in the World University Games in Belgrade in July, the second biggest sporting event in the world to the Summer Olympics. The team are currently based in Sheffield training twice a day alongside the Great Britain International Men's team in preparation. The total costs for the competition to this event is approximately £1500 per athlete. Each athlete is required to make a personal contribution of £345 towards attending the Games. In addition to this, the Great British Volleyball Federation is contributing £400 per player for preparation and £750 towards the actual attendance of each athlete. There are 12 players that have been selected to represent the Great Britain Team, all of which are studying full time so costs for us students is a problem. All donations recieved here will go to the players in covering their personal contribution because they are all students who are struggling with University debt.
