Do you need a bit of inspiration to push your running club’s fundraising efforts to PB potential? Try one of these ideas to get you off the start line.

1. Organise Your Own Race

Club runners spend a lot of time travelling near and far for running races. Put their collective experience of what works and what doesn’t to the test by organising your own race. If it works well it could become an annual event that can be relied upon to supplement your club income.

2. Running Kit Sponsorship

If you are looking to redesign/reorder your team kit, approach local businesses and ask them if they would be prepared to sponsor your club in exchange for having their logo printed on the back of your club running vests.

3. Take on a Big Challenge

If any members of your club are looking for their next big challenge, see if they would be prepared to seek sponsorship for it in aid of the club. Someone heading off to run the Marathon des Sables or attempting to run a marathon on each of the seven continents could get a lot of attention from both print and social media, which could really benefit the club in terms of publicity and fundraising.

4. 24 Hour Run Relay

Get your club members doing what they love best and maybe rope in a few supporters and locals to join in too. See which teams can keep going for a full 24 hours and offer a prize for the team that runs the furthest (and ones for the best team name and best team costume, so that it is not all about speed). Charge teams an entry fee to participate and provide refreshments to keep everyone’s energy levels up and raise a bit more money.

5. Charity Sports Day

Encourage club members to invite their friends and family to a fun sports day at your club grounds. Charge small fees to enter each sports day classic - such as the sack race and the egg and spoon – and finish the day with children’s and adults’ sprint races to really make the most of everyone’s competitive natures!
