Push your fundraising into the fast lane with one of these donation-generating ideas.

1. Sponsor a Swimmer

Approach local businesses and ask them if they would be prepared to sponsor one of your club members for a year. This is more likely to be successful if you can work out a meaningful total to ask for, such as the cost of transporting one swim team member to meets and keeping them in kit for a year.

2. Sponsored Swim-a-thon

A great way to get individual swimmers chasing personal goals and teams of swimmers working towards a common aim, a swim-a-thon has great potential to raise money for your club.

3. Dive in Cinema Evening

Charge club members to grab a lilo and enjoy a watery-themed movie, such as Shark Tale or The Little Mermaid from the comfort of the pool. Remember to turn up the water temperature so that it is comfortable for lounging and supplement the income generated by creating an interval during which refreshments can be served.

4. Public Lifeguard Training Session

A crash course in lifeguard training is hugely beneficial for all swimmers and the knowledge gained could save lives. Link up with a local lifeguarding teacher to run the session and charge a fee to club members and non-members alike to take part.

5. End of Season Dog Swim

If your team does any of its training in an outdoor pool that closes at the end of the summer season, open the pool up to local dog owners to enjoy a swim with their pooch before the pool is drained and cleaned in preparation for the next season. You’d be surprised how many people would love this idea and it could create some great social media pics too!
