Fundraising is a team effort. The more people supporting your cause each time they shop online, the more free donations generated. Our Promote my Cause area will help you recruit supporters easily. Here's how to take full advantage and start spreading the word.
What is Promote my Cause and who can use it?
Promote my Cause is a library of resources that help you tell everyone you know how they can raise funds for FREE with their everyday shopping. The tools available include ready-made social posts, emails, WhatsApp messages, printed handouts and more as we'll cover below. These are updated regularly, including seasonal material and to help you promote certain retail incentives or competitions to your network to further motivate them to support.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you are logged in when you visit!
One of the most convenient things about the digital tools in Promote My Cause is that they will pre populate with your cause name and unique cause link, AS LONG AS you are logged in when you visit. This means you can share quickly and easily, and your network will know where to go to join in support.
The Promote my Cause library is available to all admins and supporters. A quick definition of each is below.
The admin is the person who registered the cause with easyfundraising. They are effectively the fundraising team leader - responsible for setting up the cause page, all donation payment details and being the first supporter, who is then responsible for recruiting the first batch of fellow supporters by using the tools in Promote my Cause. The admin is typically someone connected to the cause - an employee, volunteer, coach, member etc.
Supporters are those who sign up to support a cause on easyfundraising. They are effectively the fundraising team, each playing their role of raising those free funds when they shop with their favourite retailers. As users they don't get access to all the areas an admin has, they can't edit the cause information, but they can see how much has been raised collectively and by them individually. They also have access to Promote my Cause to encourage people they know to join them in supporting the same cause that they do.
Copy and paste straight to your email client
If you use a CRM system to communicate with your network, or use your own email client, we have ready-written emails you can send. These are ready to copy and paste, but require a few edits before you hit send! Again, if you are logged in, these are populated with your unique link people need to go to, to become a supporter.
Select preview and copy, then the post will appear on screen in full. Click the 'Copy email template' button and this will automatically be copied to clipboard ready for you to hit paste when you open your blank email ready to send. Then add in the additional info in the space provided to make your mail more personal. Add in your contact addresses and hit send.
All the information supporters need to know, ready to go!
There's a variety of messages you can share - from asking supporters to support you, to advising supporters of the ways they can raise, using the app or donation reminder. Plus there are topical messages around certain campaigns or offers available each month.
Keep a close eye on the section called top-to-share - there are all the newest materials you could share that month, keeping your content fresh and supporters engaged and motivated! Beneath that is the 'must-have-tools' section, educate yourself about these tools and advise supporters to get them, helping your cause raise as much as possible. There is plenty to choose from, be sure to use the scroll bar beneath to browse it all!
Other ways to spread the word
If you don't use social media much, but your cause has a dedicated website or hosts a lot of events, we have a section of Promote my Cause offering printed material and website content - including videos!
These are ready to download with one click. The printed materials include handouts, flyers and posters - and you guessed it, if you're logged in, these will automatically include your cause name. The website material will need your cause link applied, which you can find at the top of the Promote my Cause area.
Be sure to include your cause link!
You don't have to use the images and copy we provide, however you want to spread the word and gather more support we're right behind you. However, the most important thing is that you include your unique cause link in any comms, to make sure that supporters find you easily.
As you have seen above, we add this to all our pre-written material. But you can find your unique link at the top of the Promote my Cause area, you can copy your link or generate a QR code easily for use on any printed material you are making.
