Each week we recognise ‘Fundraising Heroes’ giving them the spotlight to highlight the incredible difference causes and charities across the UK make every day.
The Friends of Helme School was formed to support the school by fundraising to subsidise its resources. This is particularly vital for such a small school as the government funding allocated is not sufficient to cover its needs. Helme School has a real family atmosphere, where every child is known as an individual, and where the rich curriculum is designed to support each child to be the very best that they can be.
The children sum up their much-loved school in a nutshell when they say that it is:
A small school that makes them feel big”.
In total, this very dedicated PTA have now raised £370 with easyfundraising – simply by encouraging their loyal band of supporters to shop online through the site. And, as a result of these donations, they have started to replace the schools library. They were missing many books and lots of those that they had were in a sorry state with ripped pages sellotape together.
With Christmas coming there is a big opportunity to raise even more with easyfundraising, Friends of Helme School embraced this and in 2016 they raised free donations totalling £118.43 in the run-up to the big day. To achieve this, they used the fundraising tools provided in the easyfundraising Christmas toolkit, printing leaflets and posters to give out in book bags, and they also used their social media and school newsletter to keep their supporters in the loop and inspire them to do all their seasonal shopping via the site.
