1. Host a car boot sale
It’s that time of year when people give their homes a spring clean and end up with boxes of unwanted clutter. There couldn’t be a better time to host a car boot sale and encourage your supporters to come along and sell their goods in exchange for donations to your cause. Remind them that they can sell pretty much everything – from DVDs and pots and pans, to furniture and clothing.
2. Afternoon Tea
Who can say no to an afternoon spent eating endless cakes and sandwiches with friends and family? Hosting an Afternoon Tea is a delicious way to raise plenty of funds for your cause. So you can control numbers, sell tickets in advance. You could also ask supporters to get involved with making the scones, sandwiches and cakes so they feel part of making a difference to your cause.
3. Wardrobe swap
Remember the old saying that someone’s trash is another person’s treasure? Raise money for your cause at the end of the winter season by hosting a Wardrobe Swap. Invite people to come along to the Swap with an agreed number of items of clothing and accessories they no longer want. Attendees can then swap that number of items for pieces they find that other people have brought along. You could charge an entry fee and provide refreshments, with all proceeds going to your cause. It’s a fun and environmentally-friendly way to update your wardrobe, as well as giving your fundraising a boost!
4. Easter Egg Hunt
A great way to celebrate Easter and involve all of the family with your fundraising is by hosting an Easter Egg Hunt. Kids will love the thrill of finding as many chocolate eggs as possible on the organised hunt. There could even be a prize for the person who collects the most eggs. You could sell family tickets and promote the event across your social media channels, with all the money raised going to your cause.
5. Earth Day Walk
It’s the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22nd, mark the occasion by getting supporters involved in the initiative by organising an Earth Day Walk. Have supporters register to take part and encourage them to get sponsors. You could provide a prize for the supporter who raises the most.
6. Lawn-mowathon
After a long winter, gardens are often neglected, especially our lawns. Take advantage by running a lawn-mowathon. Supporters can take part by mowing as many lawns as possible in your local community in one day. Raise funds for your cause by charging an amount for each lawn that is mowed.
7. Car wash
People will jump at the chance to give their cars a spring clean so this is the perfect time to host a charity car wash with help from your supporters. Charge an amount per car and you’ll be raising money in no time whilst having plenty of fun together in your car-washing team.
8. Host a Rounders Contest
Now the days are getting longer and there is the possibility of sunnier days, make the most of it by getting active whilst raising funds for your cause in the process. What could be more fun than hosting a charity rounders contest? Supporters of all ages can get involved and you could charge people an entry fee to watch the contest or to take part. You could even put on a BBQ at the event to give your fundraising an extra boost.
9. Litter pick-up
Help your local community as well as your cause by organising a litter pick-up. There might be a specific area that needs a good clean up and this is a great way for your supporters to get physically involved in making a difference. Encourage supporters and people from your community to register to take part and start collecting sponsors.
