Christopher Kane is a Scottish-born designer who launched his namesake label after graduating from the Central Saint Martin’s MA programme in 2006. A year later Christopher Kane was named designer of the year by the British Fashion Council. Founded by brother and sister duo Christopher and Tammy Kane, who created their first collection in a small flat in Dalston, London, the label is known for playful and diverse dressing and challenging ideologies. 15 years later, and established in London’s fashion scene, the brand continues to challenge norms, and most recently in 2019, Kane won the Designer’s Designer title at the British Fashion Awards, as voted for by his peers. At the heart of Christopher Kane is a certain philosophy which drives the creative output: Constantly challenge perceptions of fashion rules, pushing traditional tastes into new extremes and challenge one’s own perceptions.
