The summer of sport is in full swing and the world is watching hundreds of incredible athletes compete to make their mark in the record books. But it’s not all plain sailing on the road to stardom. In fact, in many cases it’s quite the opposite with grassroots funding constraints and clubs often competing against each other for grants to provide the best equipment and training for young sports stars. That’s the case for easyfundraising good cause London Borough of Redbridge Swimming Club.

LBRSC is one of the top competitive swimming clubs in Essex and London, offering both swimming lessons and high quality skills development for their team of eager athletes. However, with 102 swimming clubs in London and only one swimming pool in the borough, LBRSC face a battle for pool time whilst keeping the cost down for club members.

The ASA revealed that two thirds of children in Redbridge leave primary school without being able to swim a length in a swimming pool, the fourth lowest of 35 local authorities.

Although the borough is a fairly wealthy one, funding doesn’t go towards sports, so, funding needs to come from other means. That’s where easyfundraising comes in, offering the club, members and supporters an easy way to help support the kids and keep the cost down for parents who already have a huge number of financial commitments.

So far, the club and supporters have raised £380.93 shopping online and collecting free donations through easyfundraising. The money has funded swimming equipment such as parachutes for specialist training the advanced national level swimmers, helps get them to competition scale pools and events.

Gary Inch, club coach, commented: “The swimmers spend so much time together training that it’s good for them to spend some well earned time out of the pool.

They’re so dedicated to the sport that it’s really important to give them the support they need to reach their potential and for that to happen funding is so important.

easyfundraising offers us a great service to help support the kids, and it’s so easy. It’s good to offer the parents, who are already paying for their kids to train, a way to help fund their future without constantly putting their hands in their pockets.

Help LBRSC’s swimmers achieve their dreams, and one day make the world’s biggest sporting tournament, by collecting free donations every single time you shop online through easyfundraising.
