We love hearing stories from our causes and charities about their fundraising success. And the best part is that we get to share them with you; so here’s how Animals Asia Foundation and their supporters raised an impressive £3,607 in FREE donations using easyfundraising since they joined.
In the last 12 months they’ve raised £430 which will go towards caring for the 300 rehabilitated bears they currently have in their care.
Tell me a bit about Animals Asia Foundation. Describe what you do and why you were set up?
Animals Asia is devoted to ending bear bile farming and improving the welfare of animals across Asia.
Founded in 1998, the Animals Asia team has been rescuing bears since 1994. We operate award winning bear rescue sanctuaries in China and Vietnam, and we are the only organisation with a bear sanctuary in China.
We also work to end the trade in dogs and cats for food in Asia, collaborating with governments and NGO’s to improve the welfare of companion animals, and promote humane population management. And finally, we campaign for an end to abusive animal practices in zoos and safari parks in Southeast Asia, working closely with governing authorities and facilities to improve animal management and increase awareness of the welfare needs of captive wild animals.
So far you’ve raised an impressive amount through online shopping with easyfundraising. How have the donations you have raised been used or what you plan to spend them on and how they make a difference?
Animals Asia has signed an exclusive agreement with the government of Vietnam to end bear bile farming in Vietnam forever by 2022 and bring the remaining 438 captive bears to sanctuary. Funds raised will not only help care for the more than 300 rehabilitated bears currently in our care, but also help bring even more homes to safe sanctuary to live out the rest of their days in peace and harmony, free from pain.
As one of our top raisers, what are your top fundraising tips for new causes using easyfundraising?
Promote it in as many different places as you can and make use of the emails you get from easyfundraising after payments to thank supporters for money raised – it spurs others on to sign up when they see a tangible amount raised.
The donation reminder is also fantastic for making sure you never miss a donation so always promote that to supporters as well.
How do you encourage people to sign up and use easyfundraising?
We promote it on our UK social media channels and in online newsletters.
Have you had any feedback from your supporters who use easyfundraising?
Generally people just like how easy it is to get money for the bears by doing something they would normally do, as simple as shopping. There’s a whole range of shops available and you can get a donation back on almost anything!
