Each week we recognise ‘Fundraising Heroes’ giving them the spotlight to highlight the incredible difference causes and charities across the UK make every day.
Reuben’s Retreat is a charity that was born in memory of Reuben Michael Graham, who tragically passed away aged 23 months after suffering from an ATRT (Atypical Terratoid Rhabdoid Tumour), a very rare and aggressive form of cancerous tumour.
Reuben’s Retreat provides respite breaks, counselling and support, giving families a place to build happy memories together, relax, recharge, remember and rebuild. Since 2012, Reuben’s Retreat has helped hundreds of families through the most difficult of times, which has been made possible with their ongoing fundraising efforts.
Reuben’s Retreat has raised over £4,000 since registering with easyfundraising, which provides supporters with a simple way to regularly donate to the cause by shopping online. The money raised through easyfundraising has helped towards the ongoing multi-million pound renovation of the retreat and funded ongoing support for affected children and their families.
Nicola Graham, Reuben’s mother, said supporters enjoy some friendly rivalry when it comes to using easyfundraising.
We have a core group of supporters who have taken it upon themselves to have a league table of easyfundraising champions by checking the leader board online! They have a friendly competition about who has raised what and who is at the top of the pile.”
Reuben’s Retreat also uses social media platforms to regularly spread the word. Nicola said:
The regular posts about easyfundraising on Facebook and Twitter help keep it in people’s minds. We also all make a point of sharing when we buy and earn with easyfundraising. We also encourage our supporters to download the Donation Reminder toolbar as you then never miss the opportunity to raise.
All of our supporter’s comment on how easy easyfundraising is to use and a great way of raising money for Reuben’s Retreat without doing anything they weren’t already doing.”
